THE EARTH SET ON PILLARS?

There are many verses in the Bible emphasizing that the foundation of the earth is indeed set on pillars. Makes one think of the skyscraper buildings whose foundations consists of piles, drilled deep into the rock formations under the building in order to be a strong and unmoving foundation. Let’s look at some of them:

1Sa_2:8  He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them. 
Job_9:6  Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. 
Job_38:4  Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding. 
Psa_104:5  Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever. 
Pro_8:29  When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: 
Isa_40:21  Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? 
Jer_31:37  Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

When the human race’s scientific mind was still in its early stages of development, it would only have been natural for them to think that a structure as gigantic as the earth must indeed have been resting on a foundation, because that is what their experience taught them with the development of their own dwellings from caves to tents to heavy “permanent” brick structures. Couple that to the idea that their scientific minds thought that the world was flat and it surely completed the picture for them of a flat earth resting on pillars, driven into whatever!

However, the human’s scientific mind kept on developing and they soon found out that the earth was indeed a round sphere, a ball suspended in space. This sensational discovery became a watershed with the Bible Fundamentalists clinging to their literal understanding of Scripture, while their more scientific brothers starting to become isolated in a new field called science. But let us set the record straight here: it wasn’t the Church or the Bible or God who thought that the earth was flat and rested on pillars, it was the scientific mind which thought so and these thoughts were underscored by their fundamentalist understanding of what was written in the Bible.

The Bible indeed says that the earth’s foundation is resting on pillars and if science not only developed in the technological field but also in the field of explanation for the layman (they only excel in explanations for which you need some university degree just to understand their theories, let alone the practice!) there wouldn’t have been a need for two-way mocking! However, if modern science REALLY wants to explain the way the planets behave and interact as suspended spheres to the layman, they should revert to the way the Bible explain these phenomena to simpleminded people like me. Science should have taken the “pillars” concept and gave it a more scientific flavour and gave them names like GRAVITY and CENTRIFUGAL FORCE. Both these forces act like a piled foundation of a skyscraper, acting against the forces of nature to keep the building intact. The only difference is the fact that they keep the heavenly bodies from creeping up to one another and to faithfully move around in in their orbiting paths as God determined for them from their inception.

So the earth is INDEED resting on pillars and science can PROOF it with their superior wisdom. It is just strange to me that people can understand that if Islam say their faith rest on five pillars, then science will understand exactly what is meant or that Christianity or Judaism both rest on seven pillars called Sacraments, but the moment the Bible speak of pillars on which the foundation of the earth rest, a furore erupts. and the mocking begins. But I am not sorry to say science, the laugh is on you! By making such stupid statements you only mock yourself!
