Here we have a case where God is mocked for allegedly not knowing His biology! Imagine the CREATOR of biology does not know biology! One could have had a hearty laugh if this was not such a serious accusation. And to think that this conclusion is made after skimming the surface of just four verses in the Bible. The conclusions here are a classical example of un-biological Biology! Let’s look at the Text:
Leviticus 11:20-23
“All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you. Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth; these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind. But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.” (KJV) The assumptions the Bible mockers here make is the fact that they think that “fowls” are also included in these verses. However this is not entirely their doing, because this is so because of an unfortunate mistake made by the Bible translators. This here is how Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance translates the Hebrew. H5775 עוף‛ôph ofe From H5774; a bird (as covered with feathers, or rather as COVERING WITH WINGS), often collective: - bird, THAT FLIETH, FLYING, fowl. This means that the Bible translators could render ‘ofe’ as “fowl”, but certainly not in the context of the four verses in the text. “Winged insects” would have been a perfect translation. The purpose of these verses are also not the “anatomy of insects”, but IDENTIFYING KOSHER INSECTS! The text here shows the Creator Biologist at His very best. It doesn’t matter what the translators do with the names identified here, the main means of identifying kosher “winged insects” is made by this description as simple as ABC. If it has wings and is fitted with a pair of larger and stronger legs which enables it to “leap withal upon the earth…” it is fit to be eaten. If it doesn’t fit this description, there is no further argument: “But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you” (verse 23)
