The mockers have a good laugh here at the expense of Jesus. They say that if Jesus is God then He should be omniscient and know that the mustard seed is indeed not the smallest of all seeds! But let’s see who will have the last laugh!
Matthew 13:31-32
“Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.” This here is another example of how the Bible is ridiculed because its content is not grasped. The mockers also do not understand the scope of what Jesus is actually proclaiming in these two verses. The first thing is that trees get planted and shrubs or vegetables get sown. Jesus obviously knows the distinction. Another thing that one must keep in mind is the fact that Jesus is likening the “KINGDOM OF HEAVEN” to something hidden in a mustard seed like a tree or any other plant is hidden in its seed. Jesus actually alludes to another kingdom that is mentioned in the Bible, namely that of Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 4) with the tree He talks about that can “sprout” from a mustard seed. Science thinks that Jesus is being very unscientific because He supposedly is ignorant of the fact that there are smaller seeds than a mustard seed. What a laugh! The shoe is actually on the other foot. It is Jesus who is actually teaching something which science only begins to understand 2000 years later. Let me explain: Jesus uses the word “micros” which means ‘tiny’, or ‘least, less, little, small’ as Strong’s define it. Now Jesus couples this micros to the “kingdom of heaven”, in other words a micro kingdom, or to put two Greek words together, a “micros cosmos” or in plain language, a micro world! A MICRO WORLD IN A MUSTARD SEED And this micro-world science only started to discover with the invention of the microscope. They started by discovering viruses, germs the human cell, chromosomes, DNA… The micro cosmos is just getting vaster as the microscopes are getting more powerful, in a similar fashion like the macro cosmos is getting vaster as the telescopes are getting more powerful. In short, the edge of the micro world hidden in something the size of a mustard seed has not been discovered yet. Science’s telescopes will have to advance in leaps and bounds in order to achieve viewing the edge of the macro-universe and their micro technology will have to match that if they want to view the edge of the micro universe. Believe it? You’d better, because this is only the beginning of things greater than science can ever comprehend.
