Jesus once called a rich man's bluff who bragged that He kept the Law: “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor... Then come, follow me.” (Mat.19:21)
Jesus knew that a loophole in the Law of the Old Testament as well as that of every other holy book, or even secular law allows that money could be offered in lieu of transgressions.
Not so with the Gospel. There's no Law in the Gospel, so there's no loophole in the Gospel. The Gospel opposes the Law. All the Gospel ask of you is to be crucified with Christ, to relinquish everything precious, even your life in the flesh, to live it for Christ (Gal.2:20)
