We are conditioned to think that the more precious means the more expensive. It's the rule of the concrete jungle, where the poorest sometimes can't even afford the crumbs that fall from the rich's tables.
Fortunately that rule doesn't apply for the most precious: God's Eternal Kingdom. Many try to sell the Kingdom to the highest bidders, those that can give the biggest tithes, those that take up the choice seats in this world, but Jesus doesn't concur.
"And if anyone gives even A CUP OF COLD WATER to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward." (Matt.10:4)
To Jesus it's the little things that count... those little visits to the sick; a little conversation with a lonely person; a little encouragement that lights up a smile on a dreary face... The choice seats in His Kingdom will be occupied by those who handed out those refreshing little cups of cold water.
